OKTA’s fire prevention activities: educational campaign and donation of a drone for early fire detection to PE National Forests
Skopje, 20 .05.2025 – In anticipation of the summer season, when the risk of fires increases significantly, OKTA begins active cooperation with the Public Enterprise National Forests for the prevention of wildfires. As part of this cooperation, OKTA donates a drone with specialized technology for early detection of fires, which will be made available to the field teams of the PE National Forests. The drone will increase the efficiency of forest monitoring and will enable a fast response of the competent institutions in critical regions. This donation represents a real contribution to greater efficiency in the protection of forests and the safety of field teams.
In parallel, OKTA, in partnership with the PE National Forests, is initiating preventive educational activities under the slogan "Watch what you do! It only takes a spark!", which aim to raise public awareness among citizens about the dangers of careless behavior - dumping waste outdoors, lighting fires, burning stubble and disregarding regulations for safe behavior in nature.
"OKTA is committed to practicing social responsibility through tangible and sustainable initiatives. With our recent donation and campaign, in collaboration with PE National Forests, we are investing in the protection and security of our country's natural resources. We firmly believe that through strategic partnerships with institutions and active involvement in preventive education, we can achieve significant results and mitigate catastrophic consequences for both nature and the community. Together, we aim to convey a clear message: the protection of forests is a shared responsibility, and prevention is the most powerful tool against disasters," said Dimitrios Paschos, CEO of OKTA.
PE National Forests, together with local firefighting units, the Republic Crisis Management Center and the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, are on the front lines of dealing with wildfires in the country. "The collaboration with OKTA represents an important step forward in our efforts to protect forests and nature from fires. The new equipment, especially the drone with advanced technology, will significantly help us in the early detection of fires and will increase the efficiency of our field teams. Prevention is of essential importance - therefore, in parallel with technological advancement, we are actively involved in the educational campaign to raise public awareness. Forests are a common national treasure, and their protection requires joint action and responsibility from everyone," emphasized Prof. Dr. Zdravko Trajanov, Acting Director of the PE National Forests.
Last year, OKTA provided specialized equipment for extinguishing fires in inaccessible terrain, which was donated to the territorial fire unit of Sveti Nikole, whose surroundings, last summer, were affected by large fires. The same year, OKTA also opened the first training center for fire protection from petroleum derivatives in the country, intended for training and conducting firefighting exercises in safe and strictly controlled conditions.
