OKTA, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Republic Council for Road Traffic Safety launch a new campaign for enhanced road safety

"Watch out so you get there. So, we all get where we’re going" is the core message of a new socially responsible campaign under the "I watch out" educational platform. Launching on October 29, the initiative is spearheaded by OKTA in collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Republic Council for Road Traffic Safety. Based on the premise that every individual in traffic is part of a larger whole, the campaign emphasizes the importance of attentiveness, presence of mind, and responsibility—both for one's own safety and for the safety of other road users.

Through the “I watch out” platform, OKTA continuously invests in raising public awareness regarding road safety. This year, the campaign focuses on fostering greater personal responsibility and self-awareness among all road users, encouraging them to pause for a moment and reflect on what they might be overlooking while driving a vehicle, crossing the street, or traveling by bicycle, motorcycle or scooter.

"We believe that through responsible behavior and greater care for the people around us, we can collectively contribute to a safer traffic environment. After all, our goal is not just for each individual to reach their destination safely, but for all of us to reach our destination safely," stated Dimitrios Paschos, Chief Executive Officer of OKTA.

With the creative concept "What do you miss when you aren't paying attention?", the campaign encourages citizens to recognize risks in traffic that often go unnoticed, as well as the dangers posed by distractions—particularly those caused by mobile phones. The campaign will be implemented through various communication channels, as well as through on-the-ground activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of safe participation in traffic.

"Traffic safety begins with adherence to the rules, but also with the awareness that every action we take can affect others. Drivers must constantly monitor traffic conditions, check their mirrors and blind spots, and ensure that mobile phones or other factors do not distract them. At the same time, all road users must exercise caution and act responsibly. By supporting the “I watch out”campaign, we wish to further emphasize the importance of prevention and responsible behavior in traffic," stated Panche Toshkovski, Minister of Internal Affairs.

The campaign places special emphasis on visibility and the accurate assessment of risks. It is not enough merely to notice other road users; it is equally important to ensure that we ourselves are visible, to follow the rules, and never to assume that others have noticed us. This is particularly significant for pedestrians, cyclists, and users of electric scooters, who face a higher level of risk in traffic.

"Daily participation in traffic requires constant attention, sound judgment, and responsibility. Therefore, it is important not to rely on assumptions, but rather to double-check, keep our focus on the road, and remain aware of everyone around us. Through initiatives like this, we aim to foster a culture of road safety where every road user looks out not only for their own safety but also for the safety of others," stated Goran Angelovski, President of the Republic Council for Road Traffic Safety.

In 2017, OKTA officially launched the national platform "I watch out" with the goal of raising public awareness regarding road safety and encouraging more responsible habits among all road users. Over the years, through educational activities, campaigns, and specific initiatives, the company has supported various aspects of road safety—ranging from educating children and providing reflective gear for first-graders, to improving pedestrian safety and supporting vulnerable road users.
