Together for a sustainable future: OKTA donates solar power plants for the third consecutive year – more energy, less costs, cleaner environment

Skopje 02.12.2025 - Guided by its long-term commitment to sustainable solutions and improving the quality of life in the community, OKTA has made a new donation in the field of renewable energy sources. A photovoltaic power plant with a total capacity of 19,680 kWp was put into operation on the roof of the "Lazo Angelovski" primary school in the municipality of Aerodrom today, which will produce approximately 26.6 MWh of green energy annually. Through the operation of this power plant in the school, which is attended by 1,489 students, electricity costs will be significantly reduced, and 21.28 tons of CO₂ emissions will be avoided on annual level, representing a significant step towards a higher quality and cleaner environment.

OKTA's CEO, Dimitrios Paschos emphasized that OKTA will continue to invest in green energy.

"It is of great importance to us to invest in improving conditions in areas where the impact will be most profound — above all, in education. Supplying schools with energy generated from renewable sources creates a dual benefit. On the one hand, it reduces electricity expenditures and enables the redirection of funds toward essential educational needs. On the other hand, it helps younger generations, from an early age, develop an understanding of environmental stewardship and the responsible use of resources. This initiative, together with the additional photovoltaic power plants that will be donated by OKTA to several educational institutions by the end of the year, clearly reaffirms our dedication to building a healthier and more sustainable future," Paschos emphasized.

Within the framework of its broad portfolio of socially responsible activities, this year OKTA will make several other donations aimed at improving the energy infrastructure. Installations of photovoltaic systems are planned for: DSURC "Iskra" in Shtip, the OURC "Kocho Racin" in Bitola, as well as the DSURC "St. Naum Ohridski" in Skopje. Each of these plants will individually have a capacity of 19.55 kWp and an expected annual production of solar energy of 26.4 MWh. This will enable an annual reduction in CO₂ emissions of 21.12 tons.

"The installation of photovoltaic power plants is a significant step towards the sustainability of schools and public institutions, reducing consumption, and, more importantly, reducing the impact on the environment. We welcome this move by OKTA, which, in addition to direct savings, which will free up funds for other development projects, gives the youngest a real example of how to build a green future. I am convinced that this will be a motivation good enough for many other companies to join in ensuring a sustainable future for new generations," said the mayor of the municipality of Aerodrom, Dejan Miteski.

This and all other projects that will be implemented by the end of the year are extension of RES donations in the past years, when OKTA installed photovoltaic power plants in the elementary school "Ss. Cyril and Methodius" in Veles and in the kindergarten "Detska radost" in Gevgelija. Previously, within the framework of this strategy for donor investments in green energy, power plants were also donated to the kindergarten "Pepelashka" in the municipality of Centar in Skopje, to the secondary municipal economic school "Ss. Cyril and Methodius" in Ohrid, as well as to the elementary school "Goce Delchev" in the Skopje municipality of "Ilinden". The company also donated photovoltaic traffic signs in the municipality of Centar, which were installed near several elementary schools, as part of the "I WATCH OUT" platform.

Through continuous investment in renewable sources, as well as support for educational institutions and municipalities, OKTA confirms its commitment to the green transition, continuing to be an active partner of institutions in finding solutions that improve the environment. Currently, the company covers more than 50% of its own energy needs from clean sources, and by the end of the first quarter of 2026 it will cover them completely. OKTA's operational CO₂ footprint will be almost zero.
