Photovoltaic power plants for 4 houses in SOS Children's Village – by 2027 OKTA will provide production and storage of energy from renewable sources for the entire complex
Skopje, 30.12.2025 – Four houses in SOS Children's Village in Skopje will now use solar energy. The company OKTA donated solar panels to this organization with a total installed power of 24 KWp, with an annual production of 32.4 MWh. In addition to the solar panels, 4 battery systems for energy storage with a capacity of 20 KWh have also been installed.
This is only the first phase of the project that the company will implement in the next 3 years. According to the plan, by 2027 all houses in which foster families live will have installed solar power plants and battery systems for energy storage. With the implementation of this project, SOS Children's Village will significantly reduce electricity costs, while at the same time strengthening its sustainability and further improving the quality of housing.
"Sustainability is a shared obligation for all of us. In our business culture, the basis for action and implementation of all activities is the encouragement of sustainability and support for all stakeholders in the community. The implementation of this project is a real honor for us, because with these activities we will make a specific contribution to improving the quality of life of the children supported by SOS Children's Village. This is a real motivation for us to continue our cooperation with this organization, which is of great importance to the community, in the future,"said Dimitrios Paschos, CEO of OKTA.
The realized donation of solar panels for 4 houses in SOS Children's Village will contribute to reducing the carbon footprint by 26 tons annually. OKTA has so far supported the work of SOS Children's Village with different types of donations.
"At the core of our work is the child and providing a stable, safe and caring family environment. In order to achieve this mission, support from the private sector is of exceptional importance. Such projects have a specific and long-term effect - they increase our energy efficiency and allow us to redirect part of the funds to direct support for children and foster families. Additionally, the environmental aspect is particularly important, because by using renewable energy sources we create a healthier and more sustainable environment for the growth and development of children," said Julijana Nakova Gapo, National Director of SOS Children's Village.
OKTA will close 2025 with a successful completion of a total of 6 donations of photovoltaic power plants intended for educational and training institutions. These significant initiatives for society, but also for the company, which once again confirmed its strong determination and socially responsible mission, are proof that responsible housing, work and living should be a top priority for all social stakeholders. Next year, the company plans to continue and expand its activities in this area by involving significant institutions at the local and national levels.
