The Faculty of Medicine has its own source of clean energy: OKTA donated a photovoltaic power plant
Skopje, 21.04.2026 - The Faculty of Medicine in Skopje, as of today operates with a new, sustainable energy solution. With a donation from OKTA, a photovoltaic power plant has been installed on the roof of the Dean's Office of the institution, which will provide clean energy, significant savings and reduced environmental impact.
It is a photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of 40.3 kWp, which will produce approximately 54 MWh of electricity on annual level. Its operation will avoid the emission of approximately 43.2 tons of CO₂ annually, which is a significant contribution to sustainable resource management.
"Investments in renewable energy sources are investments in the future. We are especially proud when these projects are implemented in institutions that play a key role for society and prepare personnel who will be the future professionals of the country. With this donation, the Faculty of Medicine in Skopje received its own source of clean energy and became a more sustainable educational institution, thus improving its daily operations and reducing dependence on external energy sources," said OKTA’s CEO Dimitrios Paschos.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Svetozar Antovic, emphasized that this investment has a specific and long-term significance for the functioning of the institution.
"With the installation of the photovoltaic power plant, the faculty receives a stable source of energy, which will directly affect the optimization of costs and more efficient management of resources. For us, this means an opportunity to redirect the funds to improve teaching, scientific research activities and working conditions for students and personnel. At the same time, this project is a step towards positioning the faculty as a modern and responsible institution that actively contributes to environmental protection,"emphasized Antovic.
The donation to the Faculty of Medicine is part of OKTA's broader strategy to support public institutions through investments in renewable sources. In the past period, the company has implemented several significant projects. Among them is the installation of photovoltaic systems and battery systems in four houses in the SOS Children's Village in Skopje, with a plan for a complete coverage of the complex by 2027. With the company's donations, photovoltaic systems were installed on the rooftops of the Training Center of the Ministry of Interior, the state schools "Naum Ohridski" in Skopje, "Iskra" in Shtip and "Kocho Racin" in Bitola, as well as the primary school "Lazo Angelovski" in the municipality of Aerodrom. Previously, photovoltaic plants were also installed on the rooftops of the the school "Ss. Cyril and Methodius" in Veles, the kindergartens "Detska radost" in Gevgelija and "Pepelashka" in the municipality of Centar in Skopje, as well as the schools "Ss.
