Together for tomorrow: OKTA joins reforestation mission in Jasen

Skopje, 05/12/2025 Following its strategic commitment to environmental protection and responsible management of natural resources, OKTA AD - Skopje carried out a reforestation action in the Jasen National Reserve. As part of this voluntary eco-action, through the project “Grizzly Reforestation 2025”, OKTA employees planted around 500 new saplings as a direct contribution to restoring forest areas affected by the devastating fires that struck Jasen this summer. The main goal of the reforestation action is to help regenerate degraded parts of the reserve and contribute to the long-term recovery of its ecosystem.

Julija Cvetkovska, Marketing and PR Coordinator at OKTA, emphasized that the company creates real and sustainable benefits for citizens through such initiatives. „Thank you to our incredible team for making this initiative a success. Restoring forests is more than planting trees—it’s about renewing hope for generations to come. This project proves that businesses have the power to lead real change when guided by responsibility and solidarity. We’re proud to support initiatives that create a greener, more sustainable future—and we invite others to join us in making that vision a reality.” said Cvetkovska.

In May this year, OKTA donated a drone with advanced technology for early fire detection to the Public Enterprise ‘National Forests’. This drone enables more efficient forest monitoring and rapid response by the relevant institutions in critical regions, contributing to the protection of forest resources and the safety of field teams.

OKTA’s CEO, Dimitrios Paschos, stressed that the company will remain committed to supporting the community. “These initiatives reaffirm OKTA’s strategic commitment to being a trusted partner to the community and an active contributor to environmental protection. Through this action, we reinforce our vision that economic development must go hand in hand with ecological sustainability. On this occasion, we announce that by the end of the year we plan several more socially responsible activities. OKTA will continue the donation of PV rooftop plants to various institutions and organizations, aiming to improve energy efficiency where it is most needed.” - said Paschos.

In September, OKTA actively supported state institutions in extinguishing the massive fire at the Trubarevo waste site. Our assistance included deploying OKTA’s fire truck and donating chemical foam, which was crucial for tackling fires involving plastic and electronic waste. Last year, OKTA equipped the territorial firefighting unit in Sveti Nikole with specialized gear for combating fires in hard-to-reach areas—support that arrived precisely when the municipality faced one of its largest fires.

Previously, the company invested in the country’s first training center for extinguishing petroleum-based fires. This facility provides realistic exercises and scenarios for OKTA’s firefighting unit, as well as other state institutions and companies, under strictly controlled and safe conditions.

This forestation activity marks a meaningful conclusion to a year dedicated to one of OKTA’s key CSR pillars: fire prevention and education.
